Little Crochet Butterflies

Little Crochet Butterflies

Butterflies are very symbolic for many people.

They are symbols of life, endurance, change, and hope.

In many cultures, people associate butterflies with souls. On the other hand, Christians consider butterflies as a symbol of resurrection.

With all that is going on in the world at the moment, what better time to fill the world with a kaleidoscope of little butterflies !

These sweet little butterflies are very quick and easy to make.

I have seen similar - but this is my version.

Little Crochet Butterflies

Requires:
DK yarn – used double
4mm crochet hook

This pattern is written in UK terminology

dtr = double treble crochet,    tr = treble crochet,   htr = half treble,     ch = chain

Instructions:

Chain 4, slip stitch into first chain stitch, to form a ring

Ch 4, work 2tr into ring, ch 4, slip stitch into ring,

ch 3, work 2htr into ring, ch 3, slip stitch into ring*, repeat from * to * once more,

ch 4, work 2tr into ring, ch 4, sipl stitch into ring.

Fasten off.

Create abdomen and antennae with a length of contrasting yarn.

Darn away ends.

Little Crochet Butterflies

For a slightly bigger size ~

Bigger Size

Chain 4, sl st into first chain stitch, to form a ring

Ch 4, work 2dtr into ring, ch 4, sl st into ring,

ch 3, work 2tr into ring, ch 3, sl st into ring*, repeat from * to * once more,

ch 4, work 2dtr into ring, ch 4, sl st into ring.

Fasten off.

Create abdomen and antennae with a length of contrasting yarn.

Darn away ends.

I think these look really cute - made with a strand each of 2 different colours - for a marled effect
