LILY Hat ~ Child, Teen, Adult Woman

 I am really pleased that you like my recent LILY Baby Hat. 

So many of you have asked for bigger sizes ...... that is quite a compliment!


LILY Hat  


I haven't had time to knit check these yet - if you find any errors, please let me know! 


LILY Baby Hat                  For a child of around 4 – 7 years               

 

Measurements:      15″ circumference, 7½″ high        

 

Requirements:       DK yarn, 4mm needles

 

Tension / Gauge:   22sts = 4” (10cm)

 

Instructions:

Cast on 82sts 

Knit 6 rows

Row 7:          S1, knit to end

Row 8:          S1, purl to last st, k1

Row 9:          S1, k2, * yon, k2tog, k8, repeat from * to last 9sts, yon, k2tog, k7

Row 10:        S1, purl to last st, k1

Row 11:        S1, * k2tog, yon, k1, yon, s1, k1, psso, k5, repeat from * to last st, k1

Row 12:        S1, purl to last st, k1

Row 13:        S1, knit to end

Shape the Top ~

1st Row:        (K6, k2tog), repeat from * to last st, k1              71sts

2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, 10th  & 12th Rows:   S1, purl to last st, k1
3rd Row:        (K5, k2tog) repeat to last st, k1                          61sts
5th Row:        (K4, k2tog) repeat to last st, k1                          51sts
7th Row:        (K3, k2tog) repeat to last st, k1                          41sts
9th Row:        (K2, k2tog) repeat to last st, k1                          31sts
11th Row:      (K1, k2tog) repeat to last st, k1                          21sts

Cut yarn (leaving a ‘tail’ to use for sewing up)

With a yarn needle, pull the yarn through all the remaining stitches. Pull to gather up.

Sew up side seam and weave in ends.

5mm and 5.5mm needles

 

Tension / Gauge:

18sts = 4” (10cm), over stocking stitch on 5.5mm needles


 

Child's Mittens                         Age around 5 – 9 years

 

Size:

Circumference -  5½"

Length  -          6", easy to adjust

 

Instructions:

With 5mm needles, cast on 25sts

Rib 14 rows

Change to 5.5mm needles

Increase for the thumb ~

Row 15:   K11, kfb, kfb, k12

Rows 16, 18, and 20:  S1, purl to last st, k1

Row 17:   K11, kfb,k2, kfb, k12

Row 19:   K11, kfb, k4, kfb, k12

Row 21:   K11, kfb, k6, kfb, k12                                            33sts

Row 22:   S1, p11, cast off 9sts knitwise, p10, k1                 24sts
