So cute  ~  a little egg cosy hat for the festive season.

Requirements:

DK yarn -  you only need a small amount, around 3g

3.5mm needles (or similar)

 

Instructions:

Cast on 24sts

Rows 1 – 4:  Knit

Row 5:    Knit

Row 6:    Purl

Row 7:    Knit

Row 8:    Purl

Row 9:    Knit

Row 10:  Purl

Row 11:  *K4, k2tog, rep from * to end  (20sts)

Row 12:  Purl

Row 13:  Knit

Row 14:  Purl

Row 15:  *K3, k2tog, rep from * to end  (16sts)

Row 16:  Purl

Row 17:  Knit

Row 18:  Purl

Row 19:  *K2, k2tog, rep from * to end  (12sts)

Row 20:  Purl

Row 21:  Knit

Row 22:  Purl

Row 23:  *K1, k2tog, rep from * to end  (8sts)

Row 24:  Purl

Row 25:  Knit

Row 26:  Purl

Row 27:  Knit

Row 28:  Purl

Row 29:  *K2tog, rep from * to end       (4sts)

Row 30:  Purl

Row 31:  Knit

Row 32:  Purl

Repeat the last 2 rows 6 times more

Row 45:  K2tog, k2tog

Row 46:  K2tog

Fasten off

 

To complete:  Fold in half lengthways with right sides together, and join by seaming from the cast on edge up for around 3½”. Turn right side out pushing the 'tail' through - and tie a knot near the end. Bend down the top third. 

 

Pop a cosy on top of a breakfast boiled egg for a little festive fun.

Knitted Christmas Puddings are so cute! 

In previous years I have made them in a variety of sizes …….. and filled them with little Ferrero Rocher Chocolates, Tunnock’s Teacakes and Chocolate Oranges ….. as small fun gifts for family and friends.

 

This year I made them again, and filled each with a bath bomb. I love how they look!

DK yarn

4mm needles


Using brown, cast on 33sts

1st Row:            S1, * k1, p1, repeat from * to last 2sts, k2

2nd Row:           S1, * p1, k1, repeat from * to end

Repeat the last 2 rows five times more

Change to white ~

Knit 4 rows

17th Row:          S1, knit to end

18th Row:          S1, purl to last st, k1

Repeat last 2 rows once more

21st Row:          *K2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1

22nd Row:          *P2tog, repeat from * to last st, p1          (9sts)

Cut the yarn (leaving a ‘tail’ to use for sewing up), draw the end through all stitches, pull up tightly.
Sew up the seam.  Darn away ends.

 

Holly leaves – makes 2

Using green yarn cast on 1 stitch

Row 1:  Knit

Row 2:  Knit 3 times into the stitch                                  (3sts)

Row 3:  Knit front and back into the first stitch, k1, knit front and back into the last stitch    (5sts)

Row 4:  Cast off 1 stitch, k3                                           (4sts)

Row 5:  Cast off 1 stitch, k2                                           (3sts)

Row 6:  Knit front and back into the first stitch, k1, knit front and back into the last stitch   (5sts)

Row 7:  Cast off 1 stitch, k3                                           (4sts)

Row 8:  Cast off 1 stitch, k2                                           (3sts)

Row 9:  Slip 1 stitch, k2tog, pass slip stitch over               (1st)

Row 10:  Knit 3 times into the stitch                               (3sts)

Row 11: Knit front and back into the first stitch, k1, knit front and back into the last stitch                (5sts)

Row 12:  Cast off 1 stitch, k3                                         (4sts)

Row 13:  Cast off 1 stitch, k2                                         (3sts)

Row 14:  Knit front and back into the first stitch, k1, knit front and back into the last stitch               (5sts)

Row 15:  Cast off 1 stitch, k3                                          (4sts)

Row 16:  Cast off 1 stitch, k2                                          (3sts)

Row 17:  Slip 1 stitch, k2tog, pass slip stitch over            (1st)

Fasten off

 

Berry

Using red yarn cast on 3 stitches

Row 1:  Knit in the front and back of every stitch             (6sts)

Row 2:  Purl

Row 3:  K2tog three times                                              (3sts)

Cast off purlwise

Sew leaves and berry onto pudding

 Another quick and easy idea. Hope you like it.  

Cute Christmas Crackers for a little gift, or decoration

...... or to put on your Christmas table. 

Fill with each person's favourite tube of sweets - or go for a lucky dip !

Requirements:

2 DK yarns, knitted together (25g in total)  – or UK Chunky weight yarn

5.5mm needles

Ribbon – optional

 

Instructions:

Using 2 strands of DK yarn and 5.5mm needles cast on 23sts

Row 1:    S1, knit to end of row

Row 2:    S1, knit to end of row

Row 3:    S1, knit to end of row

Row 4:    S1, purl to last st, k1

Row 5:    S1, knit to end of row

Row 6:    S1, purl to last st, k1

Row 7:   (eyelet row):   S1, * yon, k2tog, repeat from * to end

Row 8:    S1, purl to last st, k1

Row 9:    S1, knit to end of row

Row 10:  S1, purl to last st, k1

Repeat the last 2 rows until work measures 8½” (21.5cm) from the cast on

Next Row (eyelet row):   S1, * yon, k2tog, repeat from * to end

Next Row:   S1, purl to last st, k1

Next Row:   S1, knit to end of row

Next Row:   S1, purl to last st, k1

Next Row:   S1, knit to end of row

Next Row:   S1, knit to end of row

Next Row:   S1, knit to end of row

Cast off knitwise         

Fold in half lengthwise and join the side seam

Darn away ends

Thread a pretty ribbon through the eyelet holes at each end, and tie in a bow

 

Fill with an Tube of Sweets - After Eight Mints, Rolo, Fruit Pastilles, Smarties, Chocolate buttons, etc.

Quick & Easy Knitted Gift Bags

The countdown to Christmas has begun in my craftroom.  :)  

I love giving gifts ~ and I think even small gifts can be presented in a fun way !

These cute gift bags are knitted with 2 DK yarns knitted together - so they are quick to make. 

 


Quick and Easy Knitted Gift Bags

 

Requirements:

Any 2 DK yarns, knitted together ~ (sparkly yarn is fun ! – I used King Cole Glitz for some)

5.5mm needles

Ribbon – optional

 

Instructions:

Using 2 strands of DK and 5.5mm needles cast on 23sts

Work in stocking stitch – I do it this way –

Row 1:    S1, knit to end of row

Row 2:    S1, purl to last st, k1

 

Repeat these 2 rows until work measures 6½” (16.5cm) for a Hand Crème, or Cocktail Can (250ml) like Pimm’s – other brands are available of course!

Repeat these 2 rows until work measures 8½” (21.5cm) for a Tube of Sweets - After Eight Mints, Rolo, Fruit Pastilles, Smarties, Chocolate buttons, etc or a mini bottle of wine (18.7cl)

Repeat these 2 rows until work measures 9” (23cm) for an Mini Prosecco Bottle (20cl)

 

Next Row (eyelet row):   S1, * yon, k2tog, repeat from * to end

Next Row:   S1, purl to last st, k1

Next Row:   S1, knit to end of row

Next Row:   S1, purl to last st, k1

Next Row:   S1, knit to end of row

Cast off knitwise            

 

Fold in half lengthwise and join the bottom seam

Join the side seam

Darn away ends

Thread a pretty ribbon through the eyelet holes and tie in a bow, or make a crochet chain of around 16" in length

 

You can fill these easy to knit gift bags with all sorts of little gifts – simply adjust the length to suit.

Tiny Santa     

Size:

Measures around 5" (12.5cm) in height

          

Requires:

DK yarn – red, black, and white for body, flesh colour for face,  a small length of yellow and blue

3.5mm needles

Polyester stuffing

Small jingle bell (optional)

 

Instructions:

Knitted in one piece

Begin with the Front Legs

Leg 1 ~

Using black, cast on 5sts and knit 4 rows

Using red, knit 6 rows

Break off yarn, leave stitches on the needle

Leg 2 ~

Work exactly as first leg

Front Body~

Knit across leg 2, then leg 1                                                         (10sts)

Knit 3 more rows

Using black, knit 2 rows

Using red, knit 2 rows

Front Arms ~

Knit across the next row, then cast on 5sts                                  (15sts)

Knit across the next row, then cast on 5sts                                  (20sts)

Knit 7 rows

Cast off 6sts, knit to end of row                                                   (14sts)

Cast off 6sts, knit to end of row                                                   (8sts)

Knit a row

Head ~

Using flesh colour, stocking stitch 18 rows

Back Arms ~

Rejoin red and knit a row

Knit across the next row, then cast on 6sts                                 (14sts)

Knit across the next row, then cast on 6sts                                 (20sts)

Knit 7 rows

Cast off 5sts, knit to end of row                                                  (15sts)

Cast off 5sts, knit to end of row                                                  (10sts)

Back Body~

Knit 2 rows

Using black, knit 2 rows

Using red, knit 4 rows

Back Legs ~

Leg 1 ~

Work on first 5sts only, knit 6 rows

Using black, knit 5 rows

Cast off

Leg 2 ~

Work exactly as first leg

Cast off

 

To complete  ~

Fold in half and sew around. (Sew it with right sides facing  - leave a little gap, turn it right side out, add polyester toy stuffing, and close the little gap). 

 

Add features using a length of black / blue yarn for eyes - and a belt buckle using yellow

 

Beard ~

Using white, cast on 12sts

Knit a row

K2tog, knit to last 2sts, k2tog

Repeat the last 2 rows until 2sts remain

K2tog, fasten off 

Sew on to face         

 

Hat ~

Using white, cast on 22sts

Knit 2 rows

Using red, knit 2 rows

(K5, k2tog) 3 times, k1

Knit a row

(K4, k2tog) 3 times, k1

Knit a row

(K3, k2tog) 3 times, k1

Knit a row

(K2, k2tog) 3 times, k1

Knit a row

(K1, k2tog) 3 times, k1

Knit a row

(K2tog) 3 times, k1                               (4sts)

Knit

K2tog, k2tog

K2tog

Fasten off

Add a little jingle bell if desired.

Sew hat on to head
