Corner to Corner Teether

Corner to Corner Teethers

This lovely idea came from a member of my facebook group – it is an adaptation from my Levi ~ The Super Easy Lovie.

Thank you so much Lisa Young for allowing me to share your instructions and photos. So cute!

Lisa Young   said  ~

I'm hooked on these :)

I do the 6 inch Levi Lovie until 5 stitches left then knit 26 rows on those stitches before casting off. I've started adding a buttonhole at the end (row 24) to be able to remove the teether for washing. If you don't want to do the buttonhole then just do 20 rows, cast off and stitch it down.

Here are the Instructions ~

Corner to Corner Teether

Requires ~

DK yarn – use cotton or cotton mix yarn so that your teether will wash easily!

4mm needles

A Baby-Safe Teething Ring

Instructions~

Cast on 2sts

Row 1:       Kfb, k1

Row 2:       K1, kfb, knit to end

Repeat Row 2 until you are happy with the size  ~ 6" is very popular (around 50 - 60sts)

Next Row: K2, k2tog, knit to end

Repeat the last row until you have 5 or 6 stitches left on your needle

Make the strip (to allow a teether to be attached) ~

Knit 20 rows

Cast off

Put the strip through the teething ring and sew it securely shut, (you can add a button and buttonhole if you prefer. Please ensure that any button is very securely attached).

Thank you so much Lisa !

Preemie and Angel Babies UK  are a group of people who knit, sew and crochet angel and preemie items to be donated to hospitals for use by

Angel babies, preemies and newborns.

The group recently held a competition in their fb group for their members to design and make a 'Chick' Lovie based on my Levi Lovie pattern.

And these were the worthy winners !

LEVI - the Super Easy Lovie

Please meet LEVI
- the Super Easy Lovie !

LEVI - The Super Easy Lovie

LEVI - the SUPER EASY LOVIE

I hardly ever make toys as I am rubbish at the faces! This is my first attempt at a lovie. I am sure you can do far better - but here at least you have somewhere to start.

LEVI the Lovie

Requires ~

DK yarn – I used a cotton mix yarn so that this Lovie would wash easily!
A little polyester stuffing
4mm needles for the main part
3.5mm needles for the head – toys are generally knitted on a size smaller than usual needle to make a more dense fabric which prevents the stuffing showing through.

Cast on 2sts

Row 1:       Kfb, k1
Row 2:       K1, kfb, knit to end
Repeat Row 2 until you are happy with the size (6" is very popular, I made mine 9")
Next Row: K2, k2tog, knit to end
Repeat the last row until you have 10sts left on your needle

Make the head ~

Knit 1 row
Purl 1 row

S1, kfb, knit to last 3sts, kfb, k2
Purl 1 row
Repeat the last 2 rows 6 times more                                 (24sts)

Work 14 rows in stocking stitch (knit one row, purl one row)

S1, s1, k1, psso,knit to last 3sts, k2tog, k1
Purl 1 row
Repeat the last 2 rows 6 times more                                 (10sts)

Cast off

Join the sides of the head
Add features to the face

Make the Ears ~
Using a length of the yarn used for the head, create ears by sewing a line across the top of the head at each side.
Stuff the head with polyester toy filling
Sew the gap at the neck closed securely
