Kensington Baby Blanket
Requirements:
DK yarn
4mm & 5mm needles
Sizes:
Premature Baby ~ 14” wide
Baby ~ 28”
wide
Instructions:
Using 4mm needles, cast on 82sts or 164sts
Border ~
Rows 1 – 7: S1, knit to end
Row 8: S1, k4, purl to last 5sts, k5
Change to 5mm needles and work in
pattern ~
Row 1: S1, knit to end
Row 2: S1, k4, *k2tog, rep from * to last 5sts, k5
Row 3: S1, k4, *kfb, rep from * to last 5sts, k5
Row 4: S1, k4, purl to last 5sts, k5
The last 4 rows form the pattern
Repeat these 4 rows until the blanket
is the size required - finish after completing a 4th Row
Change to 4mm needles, and complete
with a border ~
Knit 7 more rows
Cast off knitwise
Darn away
ends

ReplyDeleteI have just finished this blanket in pink for a War Bride who is turning 99 years young in 2 days. While knitting the blanket I learned that she wed in a small church in Kensington, so this will have a significant memory for a wonderful lady.
