Requirements:
DK yarn
4mm needles
Gauge 22sts = 4” (10cm)
Angus Baby Hat ~ for a newborn baby
Size:
Width: 5 ½ “ (14cm) 11“ (28cm) all around
Width: 5 ½ “ (14cm) 11“ (28cm) all around
Height: 5 ½ “ (14cm)
Requires:
DK yarn ~ around 16g
3.25 mm & 4mm needles
Using 3.25 mm needles cast on 63sts
Work 8 rows in K1, P1 rib, increasing 1st
on last row 64sts
Change to 4mm needles
Pattern:
1st Row: S1, knit to end
2nd Row: S1, purl to last st, k1
3rd Row: S1, * yon, K2, pass the yon over
the K2, rep from * to last st, k1
4th Row: S1, purl to last st, k1
Work in pattern until 10cm in length
from the beginning
Shape Crown
Row 1: * k5, k2tog, repeat from * to last
st, k1
Rows 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 & 12: S1, purl to last st, k1
Row 3: * k4, k2tog, repeat from * to last
st, k1
Row 5: * k3, k2tog, repeat from * to last
st, k1
Row 7: * k2, k2tog, repeat from * to last
st, k1
Row 9: * k1, k2tog, repeat from * to last
st, k1
Row 11: * k2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1
Row 13: * K2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1
Cut off yarn, leaving a tail. Thread
tail onto a needle and pass through remaining stitches. Pull to gather up.
Sew side seam. Weave in ends.

Size:
Width: 4.5” (11.5cm) 9”
(23cm) all around
Height: 4.5” (11.5cm)
Using 3.25 mm needles cast on 49sts
Work 6 rows in K1, P1 rib, increasing 1st
on last row 50sts
Change to 4mm needles
Pattern:
1st Row: S1, knit to end
2nd Row: S1, purl to last st, k1
3rd Row: S1, * yon, K2, pass the yon over
the K2, rep from * to last st, k1
4th Row: S1, purl to last st, k1
Repeat these 4 pattern rows twice more
(or work in pattern until 2½“ or 6cm in length from the beginning)
Shape Crown
Row 1: S1, * k4, k2tog, repeat from * to last
st, k1
Rows 2, 4, 6, 8: S1, purl to last st, k1
Row 3: S1, * k3, k2tog, repeat from * to last
st, k1
Row 5: S1, * k2, k2tog, repeat from * to last
