This week, several of my facebook group asked me for more patterns for baby items using 4ply yarn........
I replied to them with the advice that any of my patterns written for DK would also work well in 4ply (though of course the finished garment would be smaller).
So here is how it works out ......... if you follow a DK pattern for a 6 - 9 months baby, and use 4ply yarn and 3.25mm needles instead - the finished item will be perfect for a 0 -3 months baby.
I put it to the test just to be sure!!
This little baby jacket was knitted in 4ply on 3.25mm needles following the instructions for the 6 - 9 months size ~ and it is a perfect fit for a 0 - 3 months baby.

Thank you once again for a well written pattern, nice easy pattern for the lower half of the jersey. Thanks for the info on the 4ply yarn as we all have some of that in the stash.
ReplyDeleteHello Maryann. I am delighted that you continue to enjoy my patterns.
DeleteVery best wishes. M x
Lovely little jacket, thank you for the pattern. Looks a bit complicated but would be nice to have a go xcx
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! How would I convert for premature size please?
ReplyDeleteThank you for this pattern. It is very pretty and easy to follow. There is one small error in the 6-9 month size.row 33- After the buttonhole it should read K22, (and not K22, K26). Easy to figure out but a beginner knitter may be confused. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteOoops! Thank you for pointing that out Kim M.
DeleteI hate making mistakes in my patterns. I hope I didn't confuse you too much!
Very best wishes. M
Another easy to follow pattern, thank you so much I can't wait to knit this one .
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for a lovely pattern What is yo ? Is it yarn over needle Please clarify I am confused
ReplyDeleteHi Lalitha. Yes, yo = yarn over
DeleteYou may know this as yon (yarn over needle) or yrn (yarn round needle).
Basically you are making an extra stitch to balance out the k2tog or p2tog.
Hope this makes sense to you! Happy knitting. M
Thank you so much I got it Thanks once again

ReplyDeleteThanks Marianna for matching hat pattern I just finished the jacket It is so lovely and cute! Thanks a lot
ReplyDeleteHi Marianna. I absolutely love this pattern! Almost done in a cream color. I would love to make one for myself. Do you have the pattern in adult sizes? So pretty!
ReplyDeleteI love this pattern, i've just completed the jacket and hat for my baby due in 7 weeks and now working on the blanket.
ReplyDeleteThe pattern was easy for me to follow and while i'm not a complete beginner i have always had trouble following them to the end. But this was amazing, thanks for all the hard work you put into these.
Thank you so much I love your patterns they are great. Do you have any that are from 3 to 6 yrs old patterns. I love this jacket and would love to make it in these sizes if you have them.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing your patterns. Does kfb mean knit front and back of stitch??
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing your patterns. Does kfb mean knit front and back of stitch??
ReplyDeleteafter a few false starts I am well on the way with this lovely baby jacket. will send a photo when finished. I am using baby yarn from the discount store B & M in the UK its lovely and soft. Just waiting for the grandbaby now.
ReplyDeleteHello Marianna, I just accidentally found your lovely pattern for which I am so grateful but I do have a question... rows 7-39 should have the same number of stitches for both fronts. for some reason one of the fronts have one stitch less.
ReplyDeleteWhat I am missing? unless we should always slip the first stitch that you did not add. Please confirm
I am wondering this too.. argh i've already started knitting it.
DeleteWhat is the reason for the S1, I'm assuming it means to slip the stitch without knitting it. This is on the button/button hole border and also on the sleeves. I used double pointed needles on the sleeves because I hate sewing parts together. Made a cute baby sweater in a few hours. A glossary for abbreviations would have been nice. Now onto the hat.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your so well written patterns! i enjoyed making some and they all came out really well.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
There does not seem to be a pattern for the 3-6 month size, lovely pattern though :)
