Requirements:
DK yarn
4mm needles
3.25mm needles
Spring Day Baby Hat - premature baby
Using 3.25 mm needles, and contrast colour yarn - cast on 57sts
Work 6 rows in K1, P1 rib
Change to 4mm needles and white yarn –
Work 14 rows in stocking stitch (one row knit, one row purl)
Next Row: S1, k1 white, *1 contrast colour, 3 white, repeat from *
to last 3sts, 1 contrast , k2 white
Next Row: S1 white, *p3 contrast, p1 white, repeat from * to end
Cut off white
Next row: S1, knit to end
Next Row: S1, purl to last st, k1
Shape Crown
Row 1: S1, * k3, k2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1
Rows 2, 4, 6: Purl across row
Row 3: S1, *k2, k2 tog, repeat from * to last st, k1
Row 5: S1, * k1, k2 tog, repeat from * to last st, k1
Row 7: S1, * k2 tog, repeat from * to last st, k1
Row 8: S1, * p2 tog, repeat from * to end
Cut off yarn, leaving a tail. Thread tail onto a needle and pass
through remaining stitches. Pull to gather up.
Sew side seam. Weave
in ends.

Using 3.25 mm needles, and contrast colour yarn - cast on 65sts
Work 8 rows in K1, P1 rib
Change to 4mm needles and white yarn –
Work 18 rows in stocking stitch (one row knit, one row purl)
Next Row: S1, k1 white, *1 contrast colour, 3 white, repeat from *
to last 3sts, 1 contrast , k2 white
Next Row: S1 white, *p3 contrast, p1 white, repeat from * to end
Cut off white
Next row: S1, knit to end
Next Row: S1, purl to last st, k1
Shape Crown
Row 1: S1, * k5, k 2 tog, repeat from * to last st, k1
Rows 2, 4, 6, 8 & 10: Purl across row
Row 3: S1, * k4, k2 tog, repeat from * to last st, k1
Row 5: S1, * k3, k2 tog, repeat from * to last st, k1
Row 7: S1, * k2, k2 tog, repeat from * to last st, k1
Row 9: S1, * k1, k2 tog, repeat from * to last st, k1
Row 11: S1, * k2 tog, repeat from * to last st, k1
Row 12: S1, * p2 tog, repeat from * to end
Cut off yarn, leaving a tail. Thread tail onto a needle and pass
through remaining stitches. Pull to gather up.
