Perfect Unisex Baby Hat

Here is a lovely little knitted baby hat - just perfect for a boy or a girl.
 
There seems to be loads of pretty pattern designs for girls ~ but it's hard to find good pattern designs for boys.
 
This one is adorable.
 

 
 
 

 
0 - 3months Baby                   13″ circumference, 6″ high
3 - 6months Baby                   13½“  circumference, 6½“  high
9 - 12months Baby                  14″ circumference, 7″ high
12 - 18months Baby                14½“  circumference, 7½“  high

 




 
 
0 - 3 months Baby  – 13″ circumference, 6″ high

 
Using 4mm needles & DK yarn, cast on 66sts

Border ~

1st Row:  S1, knit to end of row

Repeat this row 3 times more

Pattern ~

5th Row:  S1, knit to end of row

6th Row:  S1, k1, p3, *k2, p3, repeat from * to last st, k1

Repeat the last two rows until work measures 4 ½ “, ending after a knit row

Shape Top ~

Next Row:  S1, k1, p3, * k2tog, p3, repeat from * to last st, k1

Next Row:  S1, knit to end of row

Next Row:  S1, k1, p3, * k1, p3, repeat from * to last st, k1                          (54sts)

Next Row:  S1, knit to end of row

Next Row:  S1, k1, * p2tog, p1, k1, repeat from * to end

Next Row:  S1, * s1, k1, psso, k1, repeat from * to last st, k1                        (28sts)

Next Row:  S1, k1, * p1, k1, repeat from * to end

Cut the yarn leaving a ‘tail’.

With a yarn needle, pull the yarn through all the remaining loops and secure

  5. Completed in four days! My friend will love it for her son (I did it in a royal blue). Some mistakes were made (by me) but it was an easy to follow pattern.
