These hats are really warm as they are made by knitting two or even three yarns together.
A great stash-buster !!

Thanks for the pattern. I have used a similar pattern, but it was in only one size. So this is really useful.

ReplyDeleteI will be knitting for the women's shelter this year so the different sizes will be greatly appreciated.
The pattern looks easy, but what size circular needles are you using?
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy B - I used flat needles - but there would be no problem in using a circular needle .......
DeleteI would also like to know the instructions for this pattern in circular needles. thank you
Deletei love all your knitting patterns because they are easy to follow and simple
DeleteAbout how many yards of yarn does one hat take?
ReplyDeleteHere in the U. S. there is no 7 5 mm needle. and we would either have to go down one size to a size 10 1/2 needle or up one size to an 11, as your UK size would be a 1, which here would be used with very fine yarn to make socks.
ReplyDeleteI hadn't 7.5 needles either, so used 8mm. It worked out fine . I think you could also go down a half size and it would be okay - up or down would depend upon how tight your tension is.

DeleteAny advice on scaling down for a child?
ReplyDeleteThe stitch count that you give whilst shaping the crown only applies to one size, but you don't indicate which one.
ReplyDeleteMarianna .. I have to agree with Dorothy (16/2/14) and say I LOVE your patterns also. They are so well written, easy to understand and easy to do.
