Poppy for Remembrance

 

Crochet Poppies for Remembrance


POPPY
 

Requirements:

Small amount of red double knitting yarn

Scrap of black yarn

Small amount of green yarn (the leaf is optional)

A badge pin, or safety pin (if it is to be worn)

3.5mm crochet hook

 

This pattern uses UK terminology ~

ch = chain

dc = double crochet

htr = half treble crochet  

tr = treble crochet  

dtr = double treble crochet  

       

Flower ~

Using black yarn:

Chain 3, join with a slip stitch into a ring

Round 1:  ch2, work 9dc into the ring                           (10sts)

Cut off black yarn

Using red yarn:

Round 2:  ch2, work 1dc in same stitch, work 2dc in each stitch all around                  (20sts)

Round 3:  ch3, (2dtr in next st, 1dtr in next st) 3 times, 2dtr in next st, 3ch, slip stitch into next st, 2ch and 1tr into same st, (1dtr next st, 2dtr next st) 5 times, 1tr next st, ch2, slip stitch to join up and then fasten off,

 

 

Leaf ~ (optional)

Using green:

Chain 12

Work 1dc in the 3rd chain from the hook, 1dc in next ch, 1htr in next ch, 1htr in next ch, 1tr in next 4 chain stitches, 1dtr in next ch, 1dtr in last ch

Turn work and proceed on the other side: ch4, 1dtr in next st, 1tr in next 4sts, 1htr in next 2sts, 1dc in next 2sts, slip stitch in the last stitch, fasten off.

Darn away ends

Attach the leaf to the back of the poppy flower

 

Add a badge pin or safety pin if the poppy is to be worn

Knitted Flower Keyring

 

Requirements:

DK yarn, small oddments can be used for this project

4mm needles

2 matching buttons

A split keyring


Instructions:


Cast on 42sts


K1, cast off 5sts (2sts on right hand needle),k1, cast off 5sts (4sts on right hand needle), k1, cast off 5sts (6sts on right hand needle), k1, cast off 5sts (8sts on right hand needle), k1, cast off 5sts (10sts on right hand needle), k1, cast off 5sts  (12sts on right hand needle)

Cut the yarn leaving an 6” tail

Thread the tail through each of the remaining 12sts and pull tight

Use the tail from the cast on to join the first and last petals

 

Shape flower with a little pull if required

Sew in ends 


Each keyring flower needs 2 buttons ~

Add a button to the centre of the flower – one on each side

 

Add a split ring through one of the petals.

3 Colour Flower, Hanging Decoration

3 Colour Crochet Flower Hanging Decorations

 

Requires:

DK yarn

3.5mm or 4mm hook

 

This pattern uses UK terminology

tr = treble crochet         htr = half treble crochet

 

Instructions:

Chain 3, join with a slip stitch into a ring

Round 1: ch3, make 1tr into ring, ch2, *make 2tr into ring, ch2, repeat from * 4 times more, slip stitch to join

Cut off yarn and join in 2nd colour

Round 2: working into a chain space, ch2, 1htr into same space, ch3, *2htr into next chain space, ch3, repeat from * 4 times more, slip stitch to join

Cut off yarn and join in 3rd colour

Round 3: working into a chain space, ch3, 4tr into same space, slip stitch into centre of the two stitches of the 2nd colour, *5tr into next chain space, slip stitch into centre of the next two stitches of the 2nd colour, repeat from * 4 times more, slip stitch to join

Fasten off

You can add a hanging chain if desired by making a chain of 16sts before the final join, or by using a single long loop before fastening off

Flower Picture Square

 


This is one of a range of picture, alphabet and number squares. 

Each square can be used separately, or together as part of a bigger project.


Knitted in Cotton ~ these make great Kid’s Washcloths too!




Flower Picture Square


Requires:

DK yarn – plain self-coloured yarn is best for this project ~ around 12g – 15g

4mm needles


Size:

6" square

 

Instructions:

Cast on 33sts

Knit 9 rows

Row 10:        K5, purl to last 5sts, k5

Row 11:        Knit

Row 12:        K5, p10, k3, p10, k5

Row 13:        Knit

Row 14:        K5, p9, k5, p9, k5

Row 15:        Knit

Row 16:        K5, p7, k9, p7, k5

Row 17:        Knit

Row 18:        K5, p4, k15, p4, k5

Row 19:        Knit

Row 20:        K5, p2, k19, p2, k5

Row 21:        Knit

Row 22:        k5, p3, k7, p3, k7, p3, k5

Row 23:        Knit

Row 24:        k5, p4, k5, p5, k5, p4, k5

Row 25:        Knit

Row 26:        k5, p4, k5, p5, k5, p4, k5

Requirements:

DK yarn

4mm hook

A button - optional

 

This pattern uses UK terminology

tr = treble crocket         dtr = double treble crochet

 

Super Quick Flower

Chain 4, join with a slip stitch into a ring

Round 1: ch3, make 17 dtr into ring, slip stitch to join               (18sts)

Round 2: ch2, 5tr into same stitch, *slip stitch into next stitch, slip stitch into next stitch, 6tr into next stitch, repeat from * to * all around, slip stitch into next stitch, slip stitch into next stitch, slip stitch to close and fasten off

Darn away ends

Add a pretty button if desired

 

Super Quick Flower, with a hanging chain

Chain 4, join with a slip stitch into a ring

Round 1: ch3, make 17 dtc into ring, slip stitch to join              (18sts)

Round 2: ch2, 5tr into same stitch, *slip stitch into next stitch, slip stitch into next stitch, 6tr into next stitch, repeat from * to * all around, slip stitch into next stitch, slip stitch into next stitch, chain 16 for the hanging cord. Slip stitch to close and fasten off

Darn away ends

ch = chain       tr = treble crocket      htr = half treble crochet       dtr = double treble crochet

 

Instructions:

Chain 4, join with a slip stitch into a ring

Round 1: ch 2, make 9 htr into ring, slip stitch to join                (10sts)

Round 2: * ch4, 1dtr into same stitch, ch4, slip stitch into same stitch (this makes a petal), slip stitch into next stitch *, repeat from * to * in every stitch all around (this makes 10 petals in total)

Slip stitch to close and fasten off
