BEE Creme Egg Covers

 

Bee Creme Egg Covers                    For Cadbury’s Crème Eggs

 




Width:  2¼“            Height:  2¼“

 

 

Requires:

DK yarn in black, yellow and white

3.25mm needles

 

 

Instructions:

Using black DK yarn & 3.25mm needles ~

Cast on 23sts

Rib 2 rows


Add in yellow (do not cut off black, just carry it loosely up the side)

Using yellow ~

Knit a row

Purl a row


Using black ~

Knit a row

Purl a row

 

Repeat the last 4 rows twice more

 

Cut off black and continue in yellow only ~

 

Knit a row

Purl a row

 

Shape Top ~

Row 17:        K2tog across the row to last st, k1                    (12sts)

Row 18:        S1, purl to last st, k1

Row 19:        K2tog across the row                                         (6sts)

Cut the yarn leaving a short ‘tail’.

 

With a yarn needle, pull the yarn through all the remaining stitches and secure

Sew up seam

 

Add features – for eyes you can embroider them on, or add tiny buttons or bought googly eyes

 

Antennae -

Using Black cast on 11sts, cast off

Fold in half, and attach to the top of the head with a couple of stitches

 

Wings -

Using White cast on 13sts

Row 1:    Kfb, knit to last 2sts, kfb, k1                          15sts

Row 2:    Kfb, knit to last 2sts, kfb, k1                          17sts

Row 3:    Kfb, knit to last 2sts, kfb, k1                          19sts

Row 4:    Knit

Row 5:    K2tog, knit to last 2sts, k2tog                       17sts

Row 6:    K2tog, knit to last 2sts, k2tog                       15sts

Row 7:    K2tog, knit to last 2sts, k2tog                       13sts

Cast off

Attach to the body with a couple of stitches

 

Darn away ends

 

Pop a chocolate creme egg inside and gift to a family member or friend !

Novelty Easter Egg Hats

 Easter is a lovely time to give some little gifts.

This is what I have been making this year for my friends and family. :) 

Novelty Easter Egg Hats 



Requirements:

DK yarn -  you only need a small amount, around 3g - any colour will be suitable

3.5mm needles (or similar)

 

Instructions:

Cast on 24sts

Rows 1 – 4:  Knit

Row 5:    Knit

Row 6:    Purl

Row 7:    Knit

Row 8:    Purl

Row 9:    Knit

Row 10:  Purl

Row 11:  *K4, k2tog, rep from * to end  (20sts)

Row 12:  Purl

Row 13:  Knit

Row 14:  Purl

Row 15:  *K3, k2tog, rep from * to end  (16sts)

Row 16:  Purl

Row 17:  Knit

Row 18:  Purl

Row 19:  *K2, k2tog, rep from * to end  (12sts)

Row 20:  Purl

Row 21:  Knit

Row 22:  Purl

Row 23:  *K1, k2tog, rep from * to end  (8sts)

Row 24:  Purl

Row 25:  Knit

Row 26:  Purl

Row 27:  Knit

Row 28:  Purl

Row 29:  *K2tog, rep from * to end       (4sts)

Row 30:  Purl

Row 31:  Knit

Row 32:  Purl

Repeat the last 2 rows 6 times more

Row 45:  K2tog, k2tog

Row 46:  K2tog

Fasten off

To complete:  Fold in half lengthways with right sides together, and join by seaming from the cast on edge up for around 3½”. Turn right side out pushing the 'tail' through - and tie a knot near the end. Bend down the top third. 

I have filled each little hat with a Cadbury's Creme Egg 

You could put a little hat on a boiled egg,  for Easter fun.

DK YARN

3.5mm knitting needles

 

 

Using Yellow ~

Cast on 43sts 

1st Row:  S1, *k1, p1, repeat from * to the last 2sts, k2

2nd Row:  S1, *p1, k1, repeat from * to end

Repeat last 2 rows three times more

9th Row:  S1, knit to end

10th Row: S1 purl to last st, K1

Repeat last 2 rows 7 more

25th Row: *K2tog, repeat from * to last st, K1

26th Row:  P2 tog, to end

 

Cut yarn, leaving a 'tail' to use for sewing up, draw the end through all stitches, pull up tightly

Sew up side seam

 

Beak

Using Orange  ~

Cast on 7sts

Knit 2 rows

K2tog, k3, k2tog          (3sts)

Knit 1 row

K2tog, k1, k2tog          (3sts)

Knit 1 row

S1, k2tog, psso

Fasten off

Cut the yarn leaving a ‘tail’ and use this to sew on the beak

 

Eyes

Using Brown embroider on eyes (I used the yarn double, and made a little cross)

 

Tufts

Using Yellow cut short lengths (around 5”) and secure them from the middle on to the top of the head.

Trim the ends to the length that looks good

 

Fill with a Terry’s Chocolate Orange, and give as a sweet little Easter Gift.

Easter Eggs


This pattern was a recent Friday Night Mystery Knit

I gave a pattern without a name or description.

So ..... knitters just followed the instructions ...... and this is what resulted.
Wonderful! 







Easter Egg

Smaller Size

Cast on 5sts
Row 1:          Kfb in first 4sts, k1             (9sts)
Row 2:          Purl
Row 3:          (K1, kfb) 4 times, k1          (13sts)
Row 4:          Purl
Row 5:          (K2, kfb) 4 times, k1          (17sts)
Row 6:          Purl
Row 7:          (K3, kfb) 4 times, k1          (21sts)
Row 8:          Purl
Row 9:          Knit
Row 10:        Purl
Repeat the last 2 rows twice more
Row 15:        (K3, k2tog) 4 times, k1       (17sts)
Row 16:        Purl
Row 17:        (K2, k2tog) 4 times, k1       (13sts)
Row 18:        Purl
Row 19:        (K1, k2tog) 4 times, k1        (9sts)
Row 20:        Purl
Row 21:        (K2tog) 4 times, k1             (5sts)
Cut yarn, leaving a ‘tail’  to use or joining
Thread the tail into a sewing needle, pull it through all remaining stitches and gather together
Join side seam most of the way – leaving an opening. Fill with polyester stuffing. Sew the rest of the seam closed. Darn away ends.

Decorate ….. as the mood takes you 😊 (or leave it plain)
