Jack & Jill Baby Booties

 

Jack & Jill Baby Booties ~ Newborn

These sweet little booties are perfect for a newborn baby ....... and take no time at all to knit.


JACK & JILL booties      for a newborn baby

 

Requirements:

DK yarn (around 12 - 15g)

4mm needles


Size:

Length of the sole             3½“   

Height                              2½“

 

Instructions:           

Cast on 32sts

Row 1:          K14, kfb, k1, kfb, k15

Row 2:          S1, purl to last st, k1

Row 3:          K15, kfb, k1, kfb, k16

Row 4:          S1, purl to last st, k1

Row 5:          S1, knit to end

Row 6:          S1, knit to end

Row 7:          S1, knit to last 2sts, k2tog                    (35sts)

Row 8:          S1, purl to last st, k1

Row 9:          S1, knit to end

Row 10:        S1, purl to last st, k1

Row 11:        K14, k2tog, k3, s1, k1, psso, k14

Row 12:        P13, p2tog tbl, p3, p2tog, p13

Row 13:        K12, k2tog, k3, s1, k1, psso, k12

Row 14:        P11, p2tog tbl, p3, p2tog, p11

Row 15:        K10, k2tog, k3, s1, k1, psso, k10

Row 16:        P9, p2tog tbl, p3, p2tog, p9                          

Row 17:        K8, k2tog, k3, s1, k1, psso, k8             (21sts)

Row 18:        S1, purl to last st, k1                                              

Row 19:        S1, knit across row

Row 20:        S1, purl to last st, k1

Row 21:        S1, knit across row

Row 22:        S1, purl to last st, k1

Row 23:        S1, knit across row

Row 24:        S1, purl to last st, k1

Row 25:        S1, knit across row

Row 26:        S1, knit across row

Row 27:        S1, *p3, k1, repeat from * to end

Row 28:        S1, knit across row

Repeat the last two rows 3 times more

Cast off knitwise loosely – use a larger size needle, or a stretchy cast off

Sew seam along the sole

Sew back seam

Darn away ends

Fold down cuff

Jema Hat

 Jemma Baby Hat 

This sweet little baby hat is lovely for a newborn baby. 


Jema Hat                        0 - 3 months

 

Size: 

Width:    6¼“ (15.75cm),   12½” (31.5cm) all around 

Height:   5¾ “ (14.5cm)

 

Requires:

DK yarn ~ around 15g

4mm needles

 

Instructions:  

Cast on 63 stitches  

Start with a garter stitch border – knit 6 rows

                                       

Pattern:

Row 1:                * k1, yo, k2 tog, repeat from * to end

Row 2:                Same as Row 1

Knit 4 rows

Repeat these 6 pattern rows four times more


Knit 4 rows, increasing one stitch at the beg of the last row          (64sts)

 

Shape the top ~

 

Row 1:             * K5, k2tog, repeat from * last st, k1                           (55sts)

Rows 2, 4, 6, 8 & 10:       S1, knit to end

Row 3:             * K4, k2tog, repeat from * to last s, k1                        (46sts) 

Row 5:             * K3, k2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1                       (37sts)

Row 7:             * K2, k2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1                       (28sts)

Row 9:             * K1, k2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1                       (19sts)

Row 11:           * K2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1                             (10sts)

Row 12:            K2tog across the row                                                 (5sts)

 

Cut the yarn leaving a ‘tail’ to use for sewing up

With a yarn needle, pull the yarn through all the remaining loops and secure

Sew up the side seam and darn away ends.
