80g DK yarn
4mm needles
3 small
buttons
Measurements:
Width: 18½”

Sleeve

Instructions:
Begin with
the Sleeves (work 2)
Cast on 30sts
Knit 8
rows
Work 40
rows in stocking stitch, increasing one stitch at each end of 5th,
11th, 17th, 23rd and 29th rows

The sleeve
should now measure around 6” – you can add more rows if required
Next
Row: Cast off 3sts, work to last 3sts, cast off 3sts (34sts)
TOP TIP To cast off at the end of
a row ~
You work across the row until you have 3sts on your
left hand needle . Knit the first st, knit the second st, and pass the first
over the second.
Knit the last st and pass the second st over it. You will now have a loop - cut the yarn and pull it through the loop. Easy !
Leave these 34 stitches on a spare needle, or stitch holder

ReplyDeleteI really do prefer top-down sweaters, but at least this one joins the sleeves to the body so there are not pieces to be sewn together at the end.

ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing your lovely patterns. I now have some very well-dressed grandchildren! I have really enjoyed making these lovely baby clothes, they all work out exactly and are never mysterious or misleading like many patterns I have tried.
ReplyDeleteI would also be interested in how to adapt this for a larger size. Babies outgrow the 0 - 3 month size so quickly; I prefer to make a 6 or 12 month size. Maybe using worsted weight would do it; it would help to know the gauge as well. Thanks!

Good morning and sorry to ask but im a little confused in the pattern for the main part it states "The last 10 rows form the pattern"
ReplyDeleteRepeat these 10 pattern rows twice more, this only takes me to row 30 not 37 as in the pattern, can you please help me. Im new to all this.

You’ve probably figured this out already, but you knit 3 X 10 rows of pattern...equals 30 rows plus the first 6 rows gives you 36 rows.

ReplyDeleteHelp please on sewing in sleeves. All tutorials seem to be a sleeve sewn in the round. These are flat. Confused how to join. Newer knitter. I am sure is easy. .
ReplyDeleteJoin from the bottom of the sleeve up. Then join the 6 cast off stitches at the top of the sleeve (3 on each side of the seam) with the 6 cast off stitches on the body at the armhole. I hope this helps. M
