Requirements:

 

32g DK yarn

 

4 ½mm needles

 

4mm needles

 

1 small button

 

 

Measurements:

 

Width:                                  16” (41cm)

 

Length:                                 9” (23cm)

 

 

 

GILET

 

Using 4 ½mm needles ~

Cast on 5sts and knit 1 row

Now work in pattern for the lacy edging ~

Row 1:                  S1, yo, k2tog, (yo, k1) twice

Row 2:                  S1, k6

Row 3:                  S1, yo, k2tog, k2, (yo, k1) twice

Row 4:                  Cast off 4, k4

These 4 rows form the pattern. Repeat 26 times more

Next Row:           S1, yo, k2tog, (yo, k1) twice

Next Row:           S1, k6

Next Row:           S1, yo, k2tog, k2, (yo, k1) twice

Next Row:           Cast off all stitches PURLWISE    (1stitch left on needle)

Turn work and pick up and knit (along the flat edge)  ~

(Tip: you should have 28 V-shaped peaks along the bottom edge)

*1 stitch in first hole space, 1 stitch in next hole space, 1 stitch in the next row end stitch, repeat from * all along the edge to the end                                                                           85sts

For the main part ~

Change to 4mm needles ~

1st Row:                (Wrong side)     S1, k4, purl to last 5sts, k5

2nd Row:               S1, knit to end

3rd Row:               S1, k4, purl to last 5sts, k5

Repeat the last 2 rows 11 times more

26th Row:             S1, knit to end

27th Row               S1, k4, p10, k14, p27, k14, p10, k5             

 

28th Row               S1, knit to end of row    

(If you want to make a buttonhole – S1, knit to last 5sts, k2tog, yo, k3)

 

29th Row               S1, k4, p10, k4, cast off 6sts knitways,  k3, p27, k4, cast off 6sts, k3, p10, k5

 

Continue on the first 19sts only (for the first front) ~

 

30th Row               S1, knit to end of row

 

31st Row               S1, k3, purl to last 5sts, k5

 

32nd Row              S1, k4, s1, k1, psso, knit to end

 

33rd Row              S1, k3, purl to last 5sts, k5

 

Repeat last 4 rows six times more                                                            12sts                     

 

58th Row               S1, knit to end of row

 

59th Row               S1, k3, purl to last 5sts, k5

 

Cast off

 

Rejoin yarn to 35sts for the back  ~

Next Row            Knit

Next Row            S1, k3, purl to last 4sts, k4

Next Row            S1, knit to end of row

Next Row            S1, k3, purl to last 4sts, k4

Repeat the last 2 rows 11 times more

Next Row            S1, knit to end of row

Next Row            S1, knit to end of row

Next Row            S1, knit to end of row

Cast off

 

Rejoin yarn to remaining 19sts (for the second front)  ~

 

30th Row               S1, knit to end of row

 

31st Row               S1, k4, purl to last 4sts, k4

 

32nd Row              S1, knit to last 7sts, k2tog, k5

 

33rd Row              S1, k4, purl to last 4sts, k4

 

Repeat last 4 rows six times more                                                            12sts

 

58th Row               S1, knit to end                                                                  

59th Row               S1, k4, purl to last 4sts, k4

Cast off

Sew shoulder seams

Darn away ends

Add a pretty button
