Nina Baby Hat

We all have our favourite patterns, that we return to again and again.
 
But sometimes ......... we need a change ............
 
It's good to try something new.
 
This baby hat is just a little bit different.
 
 
Nina Baby Hat
 
 
 

Nina Baby Hat           0 - 3 months

 

Size:
Width:           6” (15.25cm),   12” (30.5cm) all around 

Height:          6” (15.25cm)

 

Requirements:
Around 20 - 22g of DK yarn

4mm needles  

 

Instructions:

Cast on 64sts

1st Row:       S1, knit to end

Repeat the last row 8 times more

10th Row:      S1, *(p4, k3), repeat from * to end         

11th Row:       *K3, (sl1 purlwise, k1, yo, pass the slip stitch over the k1 and yo) twice, repeat from * to last st, k1

12th Row:      S1, *(p4, k3), repeat from * to end

Rows 11 & 12 form the pattern

Repeat these 2 rows 13 times more

39th Row:      *K3, (sl1 purlwise, k1, yo, pass the slip stitch over the k1 and yo) twice, repeat from * to last st, k1

40th Row:      Kfb, *(p4, k3), repeat from * to end                   65sts

 

Shape the top  ~
1st  Row:       (K6, K2tog) repeat to last st, k1                        57sts
2nd, 4th,6th,8th,10th , 12th Rows:  S1, knit to end
3rd  Row:       (K5, K2tog) repeat to last st, k1                       49sts
5th  Row:       (K4, K2tog) repeat to last st, k1                       41sts
7th  Row:       (K3, K2tog) repeat to last st, k1                       33sts
9th  Row:       (K2, K2tog) repeat to last st, k1                        25sts
11th  Row:     (K1, K2tog) repeat to last st, k1                       17sts
13th  Row:     (K2tog) repeat to last st, k1                                9sts

14th Row:      S1, knit to end        
Cut yarn (leaving a long ‘tail’ to use for sewing up), draw the end through all stitches, pull up tightly.
Sew up the seam.  Darn away ends.

Size:
Width:           5½“ (14cm), 11” (28cm) all around 

Height:          5½“ (14cm)

 

Requirements:
Around 16 - 18g of DK yarn

4mm needles  

 

Instructions:

Cast on 57sts

1st Row:       S1, knit to end

Repeat the last row 6 times more

8th Row:        S1, *(p4, k3), repeat from * to end         

9th Row:        *K3, (sl1 purlwise, k1, yo, pass the slip stitch over the k1 and yo) twice, repeat from * to last st, k1

10th Row:      S1, *(p4, k3), repeat from * to end

Rows 9 & 10 form the pattern

Repeat these 2 rows 13 times more

 

Shape the top  ~
1st  Row:       (K5, K2tog) repeat to last st, k1                        49sts
2nd, 4th,6th,8th & 10th  Rows:  S1, knit to end
3rd  Row:       (K4, K2tog) repeat to last st, k1                       41sts
5th  Row:       (K3, K2tog) repeat to last st, k1                       33sts
7th  Row:       (K2, K2tog) repeat to last st, k1                       25sts

9th  Row:       (K1, K2tog) repeat to last st, k1                       17sts
11th Row:      (K2tog) repeat to last st, k1                               9sts

12th Row:      S1, knit to end        
Cut yarn (leaving a long ‘tail’ to use for sewing up), draw the end through all stitches, pull up tightly.
