Knitted in 'next-to-no-time' these cute little hats make a great Christmas decoration - 
or put a Fererro Rocher inside for a little surprise !

Size:

Width - 2" 

Height - 3"


Tension/ Gauge:

22sts = 4" 


Mini Santa Hat

 

Mini Santa Hat

Requires:

DK yarn

4mm needles

Using white, cast on 21sts

1st Row:           S1, * k1, p1, repeat from * to last 2sts, k2

2nd Row:          S1, * p1, k1, repeat from * to end

Repeat the last 2 rows once more

Change to red ~

Stocking stitch 6 rows

11th Row:         (K5, k2tog) 3 times                                                     (18sts)

12th, and every alternate row:   S1, purl to last st, k1

13th Row:         (K4, k2tog) 3 times                                                     (15sts)

15th Row:         (K3, k2tog) 3 times                                                     (12sts)

17th Row:         (K2, k2tog) 3 times                                                     (9sts)

19th Row:         (K1, k2tog) 3 times                                                     (6sts)

21st Row:         (K2tog) 3 times                                                           (3sts)

22nd Row:        S1, purl to last st, k1

23rd Row:         S1, k2tog, psso

Fasten off

Join the seam

Darn away ends

Add a little pom-pom or bobble

Requires:

DK yarn

4mm needles

Using white, cast on 21sts

1st Row:           S1, * k1, p1, repeat from * to last 2sts, k2

2nd Row:          S1, * p1, k1, repeat from * to end

Repeat the last 2 rows once more

Add in red ~ and work in stripes - 2 rows red, 2 rows white throughout  

Stocking stitch 6 rows

11th Row:         (K5, k2tog) 3 times                                                     (18sts)

12th, and every alternate row:   S1, purl to last st, k1

13th Row:         (K4, k2tog) 3 times                                                     (15sts)

15th Row:         (K3, k2tog) 3 times                                                     (12sts)

17th Row:         (K2, k2tog) 3 times                                                     (9sts)

19th Row:         (K1, k2tog) 3 times                                                     (6sts)

21st Row:         (K2tog) 3 times                                                           (3sts)

22nd Row:        S1, purl to last st, k1

23rd Row:         S1, k2tog, psso

Fasten off

Join the seam

Darn away ends

Add a little pom-pom or tiny jingle bell

FREYA Baby Hat

 I just knitted this sweet little hat - for a sweet little baby girl called Freya !

Hope her Mumma likes it!  

FREYA Baby Hat       for a baby of around 6 – 9 months


Requirements:

DK yarn

4mm and 5mm needles

 

Tension:

22sts = 4” across stocking stitch as worked, on 4mm needles

18sts = 4” across pattern as worked, on 5mm needles

 

Size:

Width – 7” across, 14” all around

Height – 6½”

 

Instructions:

Using 4mm needle cast on 64sts

Work 6 rows in st-st  (this will curl up ……. don’t worry – it’s meant to!)

 

Change to 5mm needles and work in pattern ~

Row 1:   S1, k2, * yrn, k2, pass the yrn over the k2, k2, repeat from * to last st, k1

Row 2:   S1, purl to last st, k1

Row 3:   S1, * yrn, k2, pass the yrn over the k2, k2, repeat from * to last 3sts, yrn, k2, pass the yrn over the k2, k1

Row 4:   S1, purl to last st, k1

Repeat these 4 pattern rows 7 times more

 

Next Row:       K2tog across row                                32sts

Next Row:       P2tog across row                                16sts

Next Row:       K2tog across row                                8sts

Next Row:       S1, purl to last st, k1

Next Row:       K2tog across row                                4sts

Knit 14 rows on these 4sts for the top-knot

Cast off

 

Join the side seam

Tie a knot in the garter stitch rows for a top knot

Darn away ends


For a 3 - 6 months baby hat

Use 4mm needles for the initial border, then 4.5mm needles throughout, for the pattern


For a 0 - 3 months baby hat ~ 

Use 4mm needles throughout, for all of the hat

Crochet Star Coasters

 I have made a start on some cute star-shaped crochet coasters for Christmastime.

I found some sparkly silver and sparkly green yarn in my stash that is just perfect for this!

I tried adding a hanging cord one to see how they would look as hanging decorations - and that looks great too.

Requirements:

DK yarn

3.5mm or 4mm crochet hook

 

Size:

4½ - 5” across

 

Pattern:

This pattern is written in UK terminology      

tr = treble crochet         dtr = double treble crochet        

htr = half treble crochet         dc = double crochet          ch = chain

 

Worked in the round

Chain 4, join with a slip stitch into a ring

Round 1:   Ch3, 1tr into ring, ch2, (2tr, ch2) 5 times into ring, slip stitch to join (24sts)

Round 2:   Slip stitch to next space, ch2 then 2tr in same space, ch2, (3tc in next space, ch2) 5 times, join with slip stitch    (30sts)

Round 3:   Ch5,  (1tr in 2nd stitch, 3tc in next space, 1tr in next stitch, ch2) 5 times, 1tr in 2nd stitch, 3tc in next space, 1tr in next stitch, join with slip stitch (42sts)

Round 4:   Ch1, (1dc in next space, 1dc in next stitch, ch7, 1dc into 6th stitch) 6 times, join with slip stitch                   (60sts)

Round 5: Slip stitch to next space, ch1, 1htr, 2tr, 1dtr, ch2, 1dtr, 2tr, 2htr into space, (2htr, 2tr, 1dtr, ch2, 1dtr, 2tr, 2htr into next space) 5 times, join with slip stitch

Round 6: OPTIONAL work 1dc in each stitch all around

Fasten off  

Weave in ends
